Jillian Anthony is a journalist in New York City. She is the Deputy Editorial Director of North America at Culture Trip and the author of the free weekly newsletter Cruel Summer Book Club, exploring grief, loss and heartbreak, and how we all get through it. Previously, she was the editor-in-chief of Time Out New York (print and web) and authored the sex and dating column Let Us Sex-plain for two years. She was one of Folio’s 2018 Top Women in Media, and she is a speaker and panelist who has regularly appeared on NBC News and Pix11. Her work has been published at New York Magazine’s Vulture, Condé Nast Traveler, CNNMoney, Manhattan magazine, Los Angeles magazine, GOOD magazine, USAToday and other websites and publications. She has interviewed the Fab Five of Queer Eye, High Maintenance co-creators Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair, Roxane Gay, Ashley C. Ford, Joan Rivers, John Early, Jay and Mark Duplass, Bridget Everett, Sophia Amoruso, Dr. Ruth, Brandon Stanton of Humans of New York, the Sartorialist, Julie Klausner and many more.
Jillian ran NYC's favorite dating column, The Undateables, in 2016, and made it to Page Six. In 2015 she published a zine—along with her best friend from her graduate program at Syracuse University—called Just Visiting, containing stories from places that are not home. She once got her septum pierced on Facebook Live.
